Question:

Long Weekend in London

On the 26th of September my Girlfriend and I are spending a long weekend in London (Friday night to Monday afternoon). Now I've never done the tourist thing in London and it's meant to be a treat for me. We haven't got a fortune to spend - a couple of hundred or so.

Where should we go, see, eat, etc etc.

We are staying in Maida Vale.

Ta,

Adam.

  2. I go sometimes to london. There are 2 things i would say you definately have to do.

    1. The london dungeons. Gives you good value for money with entertainment and longevity (you'll be in for approx 2 hrs). Look on expedia/lastminute.com for discount tickets.

    2. Book tickets for 'Wicked' in the Victoria Apollo theatre. I hadn't been to a show since school and this one blew me away. Amazing the effects they can do these days. Also voted best musical for the last 2 years i think.

Other than that, get a zone 1/2 day ticket for the tube and potter about. Get off at westminster, cross the river to the london eye an carry on walking the south side of the thames and you will walk past Tate Modern, Globe theatre, Dungeons (next to london bridge station), tower bridge. Cross the tower bridge to london tower. then walk back up that side to trafalgar square. I try and pop into what ever free museums i go past i think they are are all free in london.

Thats just what i do, but over a couple of days as all that can take some time.

My most essential bit of advice? Tell your girlfriend to wear comfortable shoes. Otherwise, she will be in pain and you will have to hear about it.

  3. Madame Tussads waste of money!  Go London Dungeon instead!!

Suppose if you want to do touristy things got big eye, lester sq, buckingham palace etc!

If you want few different thing go hyde park, camden town, tour of wembley football stadium you should go theate 1 night can get cheap tickets, pick a show that never even heard off but looks good they always turn out 2 b best ones!  Also Go to Lester Sq in the eve and u can get cheap tickets 2 comedy clubs that r really good!  Last one i seen fri night started at 9pm got tickets for £5 very very funny!

    Enjoy your trip!!!

By a travel card and get lost thats when you'l find the best places!!!

  4. So, so much to do! It depends what you're into really. London Eye, Thames Cruise, Madam Taussauds, Natural History Museum, shopping in Harrods, Carnaby Street and Oxford Street. Covent Garden is nice to walk around, Trafalgar Square, see a show in and around Leicester Square. My favourite place is The National Gallery in Trafalgar Square. I love walking around it and entrance to most galleries and museums is free. I'd get a good guide book- I have the AA one and then research the places that catch your eye on the net. Hope you have fun.
