Some people think non-essential flights should be banned. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

  1. I don't know what you call non-essential...

    And besides yourself, who thinks that should be BANNED?

    ===

    The actual pollution from a jet (per mile) is less than the car, given a jet can deliver hundreds of people.

    Good Luck...

  2. I think that what you're saying about overall emissions is true.  HOwever if you break down the emissions PER PERSON you'd find a very different story.  For example if a 767 flies from LA to NY it will put out lots of pollution. However, if you divide that pollution by the number of people on board, it's not that bad.  It would be far worse for all 400 of those people to drive that distance in their cars.

    And you have to worry about whose definition of essential is if you are going to restrict flights.  I'm American but live in Germany.  Would it ever be considered essential for me to fly home to visit my family???

  3. no bans!
