My husband and i have been landed with doing the bar at his dad's 87th birthday get together tomorrow night. He is great for his age ( his dad that is !) and loves a drink, he will try different things to drink. We had the idea of doing large ammounts so we are not stuck doing individual drinks all night. Dont really want to just do sangria, we have normal mix of drinks available and dont want to have to buy lots of fruit. Any ideas will be fantastic please dont let me down, i have great faith in you all out there!!!

  1. Try an old college favorite trash can punch one part alcohol and two parts fruit juice or koolaid and ice.

  2. An easy thing to do is buy frozen margarita buckets with a built in dispenser.  You can find them at the liquor store, all you need to do is add tequila and freeze it.

You can get regular or strawberry.  I've also seen other frozen drink mix buckets at Linens and Things.  They had pina colada and daiquiris where you just add rum.

  3. In 2004 a company in Derbyshire was banned from giving their drinks products suggestive names. Their argument that they were simply using the names of cocktails already in existence was thrown out.

The report doesn’t say whether they invited the judge to enjoy s*x on the beach or to have a screaming o****m but if you’re in the mood, you’ve come to the right place!

The origins of these two drinks are unclear but it seems likely that they were being enjoyed during the swinging 60s and definitely in the 70s.

    s*x on the Beach

    1½ oz vodka

    ¾ oz peach schnapps

    ½ oz creme de cassis

    2 oz orange juice

    2 oz cranberry juice

Fill a shaker with ice. Add all the ingredients and shake well. Strain into a long glass. Garnish with an orange slice and a lime slice.

    Screaming o****m

    ½ oz Vodka

    ½ oz Amaretto

    ½ oz Kahlua

    ½ oz Baileys

Fill a shaker with ice. Add all the ingredients and shake well. Strain into a tumbler.

For Long Island Iced Tea you need:

    1 part light rum

    1 part vodka

    1 part gin

    1 part tequila

    1 part Cointreau

    Coca Cola

Fill a highball glass with ice and pour in the first 5 ingredients. Top up with coke and garnish with a slice of lemon or lime.

It's believed to have been invented in Long Island, New York, by a bartender named Rosebud (Robert Butt), sometime in the 1970s.

It's so-named because it has the colour of tea.

Very occasionally cold tea will be used in place of Coke.

In America some sour mix may be added but in the UK it tends to be omitted. However, if you choose to add some (see below), shake all the ingredients, except the coke, together and strain into a glass, topping up with coke.

For Long Beach Iced Tea, replace the coke with cranberry juice. (Long Beach, New Jersey, is home to cranberry bogs!)

    Sour mix

    1 cup caster sugar

    2 cups water

2 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice

Stir together well. Keeps in the fridge for up to 7 days

The Rusty Nail is a timeless whisky cocktail and one that has to be appreciated and most importantly enjoyed. The Rusty Nail combines a good quality whisky with the sweet, palatable taste of Drambuie.

    The Recipe

    This recipe serves 1

    1 measure whisky

    1 measure Drambuie

Garnish: orange zest or a lemon twist

Add the whisky and Drambuie to an old fashioned glass filled with ice and stir. Decorate with a zest of orange or a twist of lemon.

Tip: To allow the whisky and Drambuie to mix well, add the Drambuie last.

    Hope that helps !
