I run in the 55s and was wondering if my long hair had any effect on my time because of wind resistance.

  1. wow

    no it doesnt matter

i have hair under my belly button & i get first in most of the events

  2. With your time I don't see why it would be on the downside. Its all in your head, it really only maters in water sports. Some kids at my school heard on T.V. that you could increase your time by .02 of a second if they shaved their legs and they actually did it!

  3. I know really good distance runners with REALLY long hair. I don't think it will affect you unless you mess with it during the race. Having it up really helps. And that's a good time!

  4. nothing significant as far as wind resistance, but for comfort it helps to put your hair up whether your a girl or a guy.

  5. Your time is good, so there's not much to worry about! :)

I can't help too much because I'm a distance runner, but I'll try:

I have long hair also, and I find that it can be a hassle...especially when it's windy.  The only style that really works for me when I run is either a ponytail or a French braid.

Of course, getting it trimmed/cut is always a good idea! :D

    Good Luck!

  6. Well, shorter hair does always feel better when you run, especially for long distance. But you shouldn't have a problem with your time because of your hair. If you put it up in a ponytail, you should be ok. People run impressive 400m and they have long hair.
