West Brom striker Shane Long believes that Santi Cazorla was guilty of diving, and has slammed the player for winning his side the dubious penalty decision in the 2-0 game at the Emirates this past Saturday.
The striker was not happy with the Spaniard’s behaviour and believes it cost them the game.
West Brom suffered their third successive loss in the Premier League when they travelled to the Emirates this past Saturday. Despite being the second best team on the night, the Baggies will still feel hard done by after they saw a dubious penalty decision
awarded against them.
Defender Steven Reid had been deemed to have brought down midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Santi-Cazorla-c32505 by the referee, who pointed towards the spot immediately. Replays show that no contact had been made and Cazorla had dived to win his side the spot kick.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429’s way, and again Arteta converted.
Manager Steve Clarke had questioned the officiating and felt that his side were not done justice. He condemned diving and said that he will have a talk with his players regarding certain behaviour, and warned them.
Long was furious with the whole incident and said:
“Reid has said that he dived and you can tell by Cazorla’s reaction that he is a guilty, guilty man. Everyone else on the pitch can see it except for the referee. I don’t want to say too much on it because I don’t want to get in trouble, but I feel like
we were hard done by.”
West Brom have dropped down to 6th spot following the defeat against Arsenal. This puts a dent on their aspirations for a top 4 finish, and the players and manager will be disappointed by this, especially considering they were lying 3rd
about a fortnight ago.
Defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jonas-c18967 Olsson believes that the team will recover and bounce back from the recent string of defeats. Speaking to reporters, he said:
“I think all teams have down periods, and for us, it’s happening now. We need to get back on track as soon as possible.”
