I've been on doxycycline (200mg a day) for 5 or 6 years. does this effect my diet? I mean, i have to work twice as hard as I used to just to loose a d**n pound. is this just 'cause I'm getting older? I'm 20 by the way, i eat healthy and i excerise for at least 2 hours a day.

  1. why are you on an antibiotic for such a long time? some antibiotics are ototoxic. that is toxic to the ear.. u might develop a hearing loss later on.. just check it out.. i have no clue about the diet part though!

  2. I may think so, that it affects your diet

  3. Yes. Part of why they give antibiotics to livestock is because they discovered in giving them to keep disease at bay from the deplorable conditions and crowding that the antibiotics were a growth promoter.

I too had to be on an antibiotic for several months recently and I was shocked by the weight gain which has started to go away now that I'm no longer on it. I also had started having ugly heartburn.

Antibiotics kill the beneficial bacteria/gut flora that helps us digest our food properly

If it's possible, I would suggest you find another course of action that would take the antibiotic out of the equation.
