West Brom striker Shane Long insists that the Baggies are not getting carried away with their flying start to the Premier League and said that he is staying grounded despite his fine goal-scoring form.
West Brom went on to win an emphatic and convincing away game against Sunderland last week in a 2-4 score line, which moves them up to 3rd spot on the league table. The Baggies are a point above Chelsea, and 4 points from league leaders Manchester
United.
The club has enjoyed its best start to the Premier League in over decades, and have so far picked up 26 points from their opening 13 games. Shane Long leads the club’s scoring charts with 5 goals to his name.
The club has so far managed impressive victories over the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, Tottenham and Aston Villa.
This season marks manager Steve Clarke’s first senior managerial endeavour, and the Scot has been nothing but impressive. Clarke was appointed as boss following his term under Kenny Dalglish as part of Liverpool’s coaching staff last season, and the manager
has worked wonders so far.
However, he has also insisted that his team are not getting carried away with their impressive form, and remains realistic about the team’s chances.
Shane Long is also of the same opinion, and despite admitting that everyone at the club is enjoying their performances and results, he is not looking too far ahead. The striker also played down talk about a genuine Champions League qualification challenge
and said:
“It makes nice viewing but we’re not getting carried away. It’s good times at West Brom. The fans are very happy, but the further we go, the more respect we’ll get from other teams and the harder it will be. Maybe we can win five or six in a row then see
what happens.”
West Brom next take on Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium, and Long believes the game will be a crucial encounter for both teams, and an entertaining match for the neutral eye. He added:
“Swansea are a good passing team too and that should make it a good game to watch, we know we’ll get nothing easy. We play good football, we’re hard to play against and that’s a recipe for good things.”
