Question:

Long zooms, fast pans

Hello,I've been spending some time trying to get decent shots of commercial aircraft taking off. landing and taxiing. The location requires me to operate at maximum or close to maximum zoom. While the aircraft are taxiing I have to pan slowly and when they start their take off roll, I need to accelerate my pan. Shake caused by me holding the panning handle is definitely noticeable, and I suspect that vertical shake can be cured by locking down that axis. I'm looking for any tips (other than practice) that people can give me concerning how to make these pans as smooth as possible. Incidentally, the equipment is a Canon XL-1 and a Libec LS-35 tripod.Thanks!David.Sent via Deja.com #
