  1. well now a days all board have a guide table on their back and  u cant chose the lenght,,,  in the table u shud see ,,, ok,, what is your heaight and weight, and if u are a gal or guy,,,,

and  never pick a  cheapest things,,  becasue they break soon!!!,

advice, u can go to skiing schools in mounataisn ans ask a instructor , he can tell u,  more

but about buyin it, never buy a longer than your height, unles your weight is heavy and u have to,

be safe and use helmet and ptotector for wrist, and what ever it need, u can rent them too, goo dluck have fun

  2. Try a freebord - you'll see stuff on youtube about them. You can go switch etc. Its the nearest thing to snowboarding that isn't actually it. Also try mountain boarding but you will need lots of protection like gloves and back (and butt) protectors. Ok if you live near a steep grassy hill. Or if you are in England one of the mountainboarding centres.

  3. I snowboard about every day in winter, I also skateboard.. and i'm perfectly comfortable and decent at both, I have rode my friends long board several times, its different than snowboarding thats for sure, but its definitally going to help  you with balance. They are really fun, easy to ride as long as your on a smooth area, [avoid hills at first, and make sure you're trucks are not too loose at first, as going down hills with loose trucks will cause speed wobble and you might fall!] I'd definitally reccomend one, since my balance cant really be improved, since i'm used to all of them, i can't say how much it will help, but it definitally will get you used to controling a board and balance, carving will be different but just gaining confidence and speed will help you alot when it comes back to snowboarding..

If you are looking for a longboard, heres some advice..

Don't go out and buy the best one, you wont need it trust me!

This is a typical long board

    http://proskateboardshop.com/images/PADA...

like that, or with a rounded tail, that's what i would reccomend, a shape like that.. its the widest and easiest to cruise around on, shorter ones are for tricks and other things..

Sector 9 is a good company , you can buy completes of theirs [complete's include trucks wheels and everything!] for around 150$ and up..

If you just want the basic cheapest go to www.blankdecks.com

and build a longboard online for about 79.00 which everything is just standard, but for your uses you wont even notice.

    I hope this helped!

If it did, best answer would be appriciated, any other questions post them on here and i will answer!

  4. Yea longboarding is definitely different from snowboarding, but it will help you get comfortable with your balance on a board. if anything... longboarding is fun and a cheap method of transportation!!!
