Question:

Longer barrel for a Browning BPS High Capacity?

I recently purchased a Browning BPS High capacity with a 12 gauge 20'' barrel. I love the shotgun, however i would like to purchase a longer barrel (26'' or 28") for it as two local skeet/trap clubs only allow barrels of 26'' and over.

I spoke to Browning and they said they did not have any extra barrel for this particular model as it has a high capacity mag?

Does anybody know of an aftermarket barrel that would work WITHOUT any modifications from a gunsmith? thank you in advance

  1. I really dont think theres an answer for you except to purchase another shotgun..... That Browning you have is a very special shotgun.... Most run of the mill shotguns have a shorter magazine tube... That makes it easy to switch barrels. You can take a rifled barrel off and put on a bird / field barrel.... Your long magazine tube prevents any other barrel from fitting on your shotgun.... My Mossberg 500 #50577 20 inch barrel 8 shot is like your Browning in that no other barrel will fit on it.. So I just bought another shotgun for field use.....

You may be able to have a gunsmith remove the magazine tube and install a shorter one, then you could put a different barrel on it.... I really think that would be too much hassle and not worth it....

That BPS you have is a very nice shotgun.... I would leave it alone and purchase another shotgun for skeet / trap use.... Sure budgets can be tight these days but another gun would be the way to go.....
