Longer life?

What would people think if life could be longer? Would it make people happy? Is there any chance of it ever happening? Does anyone know if there is research happening to try and make it possible? what would the possible negative side-effects be?

If Life could be made longer, then there would have to be a cure for all diseases...now If there was a cure for all the diseases that can kill people, then how could you overcome the extremely old age...youd be basically paralyzed, not able to move or go anywhere without breaking a bone...so To answer your question, without a miracle, you couldnt live any longer than todays average lifespan.

People would be happy at first, but then they would get greedy again and want an even longer life. There is a chance of it happening, as medical research and health care both increase. There is research right now, in both genetic modification to make an immortal or an extremely long life, and in curing diseases. The negative effects would be that people wouldn't care about their actions because they could fix them in another hundred years.
