Question:

Longer speaker wire??

My klipsch speakers will only accept a 16ga wire but i need to use a 30ft run of wire will this affect my over all sound??Or weill i just need to adjust the levels internaly on my reviever?I may be able to use 14ga wire if i use a pin of sorts on my speaker connection.

  1. !6 is fine for that length.  Its overkill really but if thats what you got use it. You would only need bigger for 50 feet or so you are fine with what you got.


  2. See the table at the link. The recommendations are fairly conservative, and say that for 16 ga wire you should limit length -- according to speaker impedence -- to 24ft (@4 ohms), 36 ft (@6 ohms), 48 ft (@8 ohms).

    You should be fine.

  3. It is really going to depend on what model speaker you have and the signal you are sending. Provide model numbers for the speaker and amp.

    EDIT:

    If you have your receiver configured properly to small speakers selected you should be just fine. If you intended to run a full range tower that distance you would reduce dynamic range of the signal. But with the given parameters you should be fine.

  4. signal is lost over certain distances and you may notice some deteriation but i wouldnt of thought it would be massive. if it has an amp with it you should be ok.
