Longest T20 series between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 and Pakistan might just be off the cards – Cricket News Update
The Longest T20 series might not get the required approval, despite the approval of the Pakistan and Australia cricketing authorities.
The possibility of the five-match T20 series between Australia-Pakistan is in doldrums due to the time crunch to get the ICC's approval. Pakistan’s home series, slated for the month of August is likely to have six matches, including three one day internationals
and three T20s. Malaysia could be dropped as an option as a prospective venue and UAE appears to be the most likely location for the series.
Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) director for international operations, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Intikhab-Alam-c64380, also shared similar news with the reporters on Wednesday, "Plan is to play three ODIs and three T20Is."
The official verdict on the final decision is yet to come out after the meeting later in the month.
"I have given my assessment reports about both venues [UAE and Malaysia] and the announcement will be made within this week," told Alam.
Pakistan had considered various options as it has to choose a neutral venue for its home series. First http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 was finalised for the series, but withdrew due to a clash of schedules with the inaugural Sri Lankan Premier League (SLPL). The other options
included http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397 owing to the improving relations between the two countries, but now UAE seems to be the strongest contender.
The Emirates Cricket Board’s chief executive Dilawar Mani is already sending a warm welcome to the Pakistan team, "We've always said to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 this is your home, come and play when you want to and we make it cost-effective for them."
Pakistan was believed to be behind the idea of a prolonged T20 series due to the hot weather conditions in the Emirates’ state. The idea of seven T20s was rejected by the ICC but a five match T20 series was under consideration and while the proposal will
still be on the table during the next http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Executive Board meeting later this month, the formal approval needs extra time which won’t be possible for the boards.
While the ODIs and T20s will be scheduled to start late in the evening, weather condition will still be challenging for both teams. "Yes it's going to be hot and humid, but heat is not as much of an issue as the humidity is," Dilawar Mani told the reporters.
