The three hours and 16 minute marathon between Svetlana Kuznetsova and Regina Kulikova at the 2010 Dubai Tennis Championships was longer than most women’s matches. But how does it compare with the longest match played in the Open Era?

The record is six hours and 31 minutes - Vicki Nelson-Dunbar's 6-4 7-6(11) win over Jean Hepner in the first round of Richmond in 1984. That match contained a point that alone lasted 29 minutes. Interestingly though, Regina Kulikova played in the second longest match of the Open Era at the 2010 Australian Open. The first round match between Kulikova and Barbora Zahlavova Strycova on an outside court at Melbourne Park lasted four hours and 19 minutes.  Zahlavova Strycova eventually won the match 7-6(5) 6-7(10) 6-3.
