Longlands Golfing in Pink
A nine-hole golf event was held in the Longlands Golf Course as part of their regular ladies night out events. This event was a charity drive for fight against breast cancer.
Ladies nights are a regular feature of the Longlands Golf Course and have become quite popular among the local golfers. The purpose of this particular event was to raise awareness about breast cancer and generate funds for the Canadian Cancer Society.
The theme of the event was pink and so the golf course was teeming with ladies wearing all shades of pink. The event was a fun activity that centered on golf and the fight against cancer.
The most important prize was that of the “Pinkest Lady”. Lynda Keele wore all pink, including accessories. She won the title after a vote by all present.
The main event started when Lynn Osterman, representing the CVSGA, and a lady dressed as “Marty the Mascot" started the nine-round course. The best attraction was a $5,000 prize for a hole-in-one. The Investors Group Financial sponsored this prize.
Representing the Investors Group Financial, Mandy Baker said, “The overall evening was full of Pink Spirit. Close to $500 was raised throughout the evening to support breast cancer and many stories were shared about how each of us are touched by the disease
through friends, family or neighbours”.
The next major attraction of the event was a marshmallow round where ladies tried to hit some prizes. Two women, Anne Farren and Heather Dean won this round. Molson 6/7 team champion title was also announced and another pair, Glayne, Donna, Bev and Jan won
it.
The event was a crucial part of the drive of awareness carried out by Canadian Cancer Society. This charity has emerged at the forefront t of the fight against cancer. This was just one of the events that the society has hosted in its efforts to generate
funds for funding cancer research.
The golf course and the Canadian Cancer Society hosted this event to take advantage of the popular ladies night out program. The event was a huge success and will soon be hosted again.
