Question:

Longoria and Crawford on the DL. Is there dancing in the streets of Boston?

Both are on the 15 day DL. Can the Rays sustain or is this the other shoe dropping? I'm a Rays fan and I WAS pretty confidant but now I'm nervous. I'm hoping these guys will pull through.

  1. Well, Barry Bonds is still out there, and he is asking for the minimum salary...all of which he will give away so that kids can come to the games. He brings lots of baggage though that may s***w up the chemistry the Rays have.

Crawford is an excellent OF, don't get me wrong, but they just got Rocco Baldelli back. He is an excellent player. I have loved watching him play anytime he has been in the last few years. He is very injury prone, but he can definitely provide some clutch hits and what not as well as fill in the missing OF spot. That wouldn't be the one I worry about as much.

Longoria is a big loss. He has been excellent defensively and offensively so far this season. He will be hard to replace. I wish him a speedy recovery, because he was a lot of fun to watch. The Rays need someone to step up at 3B. I would expect Iwamura to move back over there or that they put Aybar into the starting lineup. He's not anywhere close to Longoria's level, but he will have to do.

  2. They are going to be a loss for the Ray...The Rays are going to have to look for another bat if they wanna stay in contention...Barry Bonds is still looking for a team.

  3. I think the Rays will still win the division. Though these injuries might hurt the Rays, they will still win 23 Games this year.  The Redsox are overatted and will lose.

  4. Yea there probably is. Carl Crawford to me is a top 10 OF in the MLB with his ability to lead off and play Gold Glove defense. Longoria was the AL ROY frontrunner. I don't you think you should really worried because these aren't major major injuries but the thing is the Rays have no bench. Who are replacing them? Gabe Gross? Willie Aybar?

I never thought the Rays would win the division but I think they will keep up for the Wild Card possibly.

EDIT-Yea still. Iwamura and Zobrist doesnt replace Evan Longria. This was already a weak power lineup and you take away 2 offensive pieces, this is going to hurt. Kazmir better pick it up soon or you're definitely going to see the lead shorten. Baldelli will get hurt again. It's a fact of life. I actually like the guy because hes a very multifaceted player but he has so many injury issues. Bonds? On the young Rays? Eh doubt it.

  5. i dont think so there schedule is so easy for the next week until they play the angels and white sox but theyll be just fine

  6. probably  but i wouldn't worry about it the red sox pitching is horrible

  7. No, because when it comes down to it, the Sox are choke artists, plus they don't have Manny, who was a potent key to their offense, but not one to their defense.  The Sox will always blow the big game, so no, Boston will not win the AL East.

  8. Bonds is a joke, the Rays have a deep farm and should be able to stay in playoff position and keep on producing runs.  Rocco Baldelli is an outfielder that has been called up a few times in the past and has great potential to be a 5-tool threat like Crawford, but is extremely injury prone.  If he can stay healthy in the mean time and produce he is a suitable replacement Crawford, who has been struggling as of late with the hamstring issues and now the finger tendon.  I don't know who will take Longoria's spot, most likely whoever he replaced.  This definitely doesn't help the Rays, but they have a lot of different guys that can step up and produce at the plate.  Combine that with their solid starting rotation and NY is still in trouble when it comes to making the post season.

  9. i dunno they may have to trade for someone or possibly....barry bonds otherwise they might be in trouble
