Longrange Ivor intimidates the entries for the Swords Prince @ Stud A1 525 Final on 25th February
The Grade A1 Swords Prince @ Stud A1 525 Final will be held on Saturday, 25th February at Shelbourne Park. The race has attracted a lineup of six hounds and has to offer €2, 000 to the winner of the race.
One of the most convincing hounds on the lineup is Longrange Ivor, Hondo Black’s three-year-old son out of b***h Longrange Ashie, has made three starts during this season and has progressed meticulously, notching up to the first position from the third placing in the seasonal debut.
On 31st January, Longrange Ivor was sent as a 6/4 favourite for the Grade A1 race that was set over a distance of 525 yards. Millstreet Lady went through the distance in 28.78 seconds and led by eleven and a half lengths while Longrange Ivor reserved the third position.
Longrange Ivor’s second start was in the Grade A1 Swords Prince @ Stud A1 525 Round 1 Heat 2 at Shelbourne Park on 11th February. He was second against the winner, Domestic Lily who covered the distance in 28.82 seconds while Longrange Ivor finished closest, clocking the distance in 28.90 seconds.
The 7/4 favourite of the race, Cambushmore, settled into the third slot after the winner.
Finally on 18th February, Longrange Ivor leaped at the chance that he was longing for. He won the Grade A1 Swords Prince @ Stud A1 525 Semi-Final by racing over the 525 yards in 28.79 seconds after breaking from the first gate. The 6/4 favourite of the race was threatened by Beany Tunes in the concluding stages of the race as the winner got decided only by a head’s margin.
Beany Tunes was the runner up for the race.
Today’s race will mark as the fourth start for the three-year-old during the new season and if he does not lose grip on the steady improvement that has brought him this far, then for sure it will also stand as his second victory of the season.
Another aggressive entry in the lineup is Cambushmore, Head Bound’s three-year-old son out of b***h Maryanns Venture. He recorded his seasonal debut victory by winning the Grade A1 Swords Prince @ Stud A1 525 Semi-Final on 18th February. The three-year-old was the evening’s favourite.
