can anyone tell me what it's like? Is it terribly hot? I live in Louisiana so hopefully it's not hotter than here. Also is there a Walmart, a mall, a theater? Is there a college there? Anything you can tell me will help. Thanks!

Oh and of course do you run from hurricans there? I have to leave my home everytime one is in the gulf!

  1. I lived in Longview for 6mo. in 1999. I'm a mountain gal (from NC) so I wasn't real impressed. However I think it would be better than living in a larger Texas city. I don't believe they have hurricans, but it gets rather hot there. Upper 90`s in summer, but nice in winter. No snow, but a little ice sometimes. They have all the things you asked about and a wonderful zoo not too far from there. Good luck!

You won't evac for hurricanes here, you're way to far inland.  Shreveport, LA and Dallas are going to be where you go for fun.  You'll be in the part of Texas that we concider the wooded part.  Nice, rather out of the way.  I personally wouldn't move here by choice, but it's not a BAD PLACE, it's just not real busy.  I'm SURE you'll have a target and all that stuff.  It's not COMPLETELY out there, it's NOT in west Texas!  Looks like it's growing, because construction is the biggest industry for men.  Great place to invest.
