Lonwabo Tsotsobe dropped by Essex for the next county championship match
English county http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Surrey-c851 this week in an important encounter.
The left arm pacer has played three championship matches for the county so far and has taken a mere five wickets at a costly average of 77.60 runs per wicket.
Coach of Essex’s first team, Paul Grayson, expressed his disappointment on the performance of the South African fast bowler and said that he is not satisfied with Tsobsobe’s performance in the ongoing season. He clarified that no other reason apart from
poor form has led to the omission of the left arm fast bowler.
Grayson feels that performance is the only criteria for selection of English players as well as the foreign ones. He said that any player who is not performing up to the mark will be dropped from the squad.
He said, "Quite simply, he's just not bowling well enough. We haven't seen enough from him in Championship cricket and the decision comes down purely to form. Whether or not you are an overseas player, it doesn't really matter. If you are not performing
then we have to make some changes."
Tsotsobe made his Test debut against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 last year and has taken nine wickets in five matches so far. However, the fast bowler has been very impressive in the limited overs format of the game as he has grabbed 39 scalps in only 20 matches at
a brilliant average of less than 20 runs per wicket.
Grayson said that the Essex management is not afraid of making bold decisions. He feels that Tsotsobe has not bowled badly in the one day matches but he has failed to live up to his potential in the first-class games. He went on to say that the left arm
fast bowler has not performed well enough to stay in the Essex squad for the next matches.
“We are not scared of making decisions. Tsotsobe's done alright in the one-dayers so far but he's had three Championship games and has not performed to the standard we require in four-day cricket. He has not been good enough," Grayson added.
