  1. Well, as I decipher your question I think you are wanting to know wht a train dispatecher does.

The dispatcher is responsible for authorizing trains to operate on a segement of track and arranging trains to get out of one another's way for meeting places.

they also arrange to hold trains and authorize track and maintenance workers to do their work.

It is quite a complicate and very very safety critical job.

Communication skills are absolutely essential, both written and spoken, you will need to work on that.

Think of an air traffic controller for trains.

  2. Thanks for the great worded question that I can respond to!

  3. A Train Dispatcher? never heard of one. Platform Assistant, Shunter, Signalman, Conductor, Driver, Guard, Trainman, but never a dispatcher.

  4. Your gonna have to get a job with this company soon

Yes there is a such a thing called a "train dispatcher" but its a in company phrase for station staff that predominately dispatch trains from stations.

The shifts are varying from early morning, depending what time the first train leaves to late night, various shifts of early. middle and late shifts with so many days on then so many days off this will also include weekend working

  5. What does a train despatcher do? I believe that they have some in the USA but it's not a common thing in the UK&I.

Try asking on a USA Answers site not this one. It may help if you worded your question better too.

    Good luck.

  6. yes no defiantly maybe not sure i think mmmmm don't know sorry.

  7. A train despatcher works till 20 past monkey

  8. please rephrase the question in english. then i can help you.

  9. Train dispatcher's "shifts" are structured the same as any other shift work, except they are usually referred to as "tricks".

    1st Trick = Midnight to 8:00 am

    2nd Trick = 8:00 am to 4:00 pm

    3rd Trick = 4:00 pm to Midnight

Trick dispatchers are covered by the Hours of Service Act, just like train crewmen (engineers and conductors) and Signal Maintainers.  Hours of service employees cannot work longer than 12 hours, continuously.  Between shifts they are required to have a minimum of eight hours off duty, 10 hours off if working a full 12 hours on the preceding shift.

There is another element of the Hours of Service Act referred to as "aggregate time," but that is a little complicated and is unusual circumstance for a trick dispatcher, so we'll not go into it here.

"Chief Train Dispatchers" are company officials and are not covered by the Hours of Service, so, like any other company officer, they are worked like dogs with no recourse.

Was that what you were looking for?

  10. Stay away from the rails, and all other modes of transportation.
