Next summer my brother and I would like to starting doing a few triathlon's. I don't want to pay to much for a bike if i don't enjoy doing them. But at the same time i want one that well be ok for a beginner. Would this be a decent bike Schwinn Volare 700c mens road bike. Let me know what you think and if there is any other bikes that would be a good fit. I would like to keep it under 200 dollars...i know thats low for a tri bike but as i said i dont know if ill keep at it or not.

  1. at $200 you only have a couple of real choices.

    1 - buy used

    2 - buy a toy - not a machine.

3 - ride a bike you already have (mountain bike with road tires...)

    4 - borrow a bike.

my vote is modify your mountain bike if you have one.

or Buy used one - fit is very important. read up online how to fit yourself - or check at a bike shop....then look on craigslist....for a 100-$200 road bike used in your size.  I ride a bike that sells new for about $1000 - but got it used for about 300. NO plans on changing it.

or the cheapest place i have found online for new bikes.

    www.bikesdirect.com

A road bike is fine - and add aero bars if you want.

if you get competitive then you are talking $1500 or more easy on a tri specific bike.
