Lookatmerun leaves competition in the dust at Swindon
Today was a great for 480m greyhound racing at the Swindon Greyhound Racing Stadium in Blundsdon. The dogs entertained the many racing fans in attendance with cutting-edge action and excitement in the 14-race card.
Lookatmerun dominated in first race of the day, an A6 race which was held at 14:08. Coming into the race, Lookatmerun was heavily favoured to win the race with 9-4 odds, and win it he did in excellent fashion. He finished with a time of 29.89, and was always leading around the track. A well-oiled Clongeen Machine (7-2) took second place in 30.09, 2½ lengths behind the winner.
In third place was Waycross Snowbel (4-1), who finished the race 1¼ lengths behind Clongeen Machine in 30.19. Cefn Dart (4-1) failed to hit the bull’s-eye today, finishing in fourth by a head with a time of 30.20. Fieldview Ali (6-1) was the fifth-place finisher, checking in behind Cefn Dart by a neck with a time of 30.23. Behind Fieldview Ali by a head was Lady Roberta (7-2), who finished the race in 30.24 to take last palce.
The next race on the card was an A5 race at 14:27. It featured a disappointing performance from Vancouver Tiger, the pre-race favourite at 5-2 odds. However, it was Orlock Mist who won the day. He finished the race with a good time of 29.79. Fleeced Gina was fleeced of a victory by placing second with a time of 29.83. She was only a ½ length behind Orlock Mist.
Third place belonged to Furlong Rose (3-1), who was a nose behind second place in 29.85. Impossible (3-1) held an early pace in the race, but a win became impossible for him after he placed fourth. His finishing time was 29.95, which placed him 1¼ lengths behind Furlong Rose.
1¼ lengths behind Impossible was favourite Vancouver Tiger, who finished the race in 30.05 out of trap six. Taipans Snowball (5-1) was stuck in the snow with a sixth-place finish, finishing 1 length behind fifth position.
Nice One Orca had a nice finish in the A6 race at 14:47. He emerged victorious with a good finish of 30.01. His odds were staked at 6-1 before the race, but he was not the favourite. That honour was given to Killeigh Montoya, who despite having 5-2 odds ended up in fifth place.
In second place by a head was Primo Bale with a time of 30.02. Third place was also won by a head, with Lady Biznis taking it in 30.03 with a clear run. Winning the race was serious business for this pup, but it was not meant to be. Behind Lady Biznis by only a ½ length was fourth-place finisher Gunga Man in 30.07.
Fifth position was claimed by favourite Killeigh Montoya, who was no one’s favourite after his disappointing finish. He completed the race with a time of 30.15, which was 1 length behind fourth place. Backonthebeat (5-1) couldn’t get the beat going today, and came in sixth place, ¾ lengths behind Killeigh Montoya.
The Swindon Greyhound Racing Stadium will host another thrilling 14-race card tomorrow evening. The first race is slated to begin at 19:25.
