Yes this Citation is a Rebuild project. I dont know the info on anything but that it is a 1987 Citation 19' Cuddy Cabin with a inline 4 cyl with a Alpha 1 outdrive. I need parts for the motor but not sure where to look to get motor size, make etc. Like to know what other motors I can put with that out drive.

Thanks again!!!!

  1. Keep it simple.  Keep the same engine.  Otherwise you're going to end up buying and making  the project not worth it.  If you want a boat with a bigger engine, finish this one and sell it.  Then invest in another.

As far as figureing out what engine you have, is it stamped on the valve cover?  Are there any serial numbers?  That what you should be looking for.  In 1987 my guess would maybe be a 470?  On a 19 footer it could even be a 140 or a 3.0 liter.  What kind of cooling system does it have?  Fresh water, or recirculating?  What side is the carb on?  These answers could help me figure it out.  Anyway, I wouldnt go jumping into putting a different engine in.

As a side note, I have an 87 thundercraft citation that I am rebuilding.  I thought about putting a 4.3 into the boat instead of the 4 cyl.  I priced it out and figured out what I needed, and it would have cost me far more than the boat was worth.  Now I got my engine and out drive done and I'm working on the floors and interior.  Should be running on the water again in 3 weeks.

You're more than welcome to email me if you have any questions.
