We are going to Hershey on a family trip in 2 weeks and are looking to get breakfast very near the park .We would like to find a "really neat" place to go. We love old diners. Not looking for a franchise of any kind. We are going to the Soda Jerk Diner for dinner. We will be coming from Eastern PA by Route 81. So, anything close to the exit from 81 to Hershey would be great... If you know that there are websites or pic on the net of the restaurants that would be awesome... Thanks... Oh, it needs to be very family friendsly, obviously...Thanks for your help.

  1. I don't know if you want to travel this far out, but at the intersection of I-81 and PA 39 (exit 77 off of I-81) is the Country Pride restaurant at the TA Travel Center.  They have one of the best breakfasts in the area that won't break your bank.  The portions are big and the prices are reasonable.

The only thing is the TA is a truck stop.  The guys who stop there are really friendly and you won't hear all sorts of cursing or degrading of women.  It's always guys who are just glad to be off the road for a while and want a decent meal.  Oh, and they'll tell a LOT of jokes.  Be forewarned.

I'm suspecting you're staying at one of the hotels in that corridor in the 7700 block of Linglestown Road (Country Suites, Comfort Inn, Super 8, Scottish Inn, HoJo, and NOT the DayStop) or coming up 81 from Carlisle way, so you're either going to be getting off at Exit 77 or staying at Exit 77.  If you're not into a full breakfast, you have a VERY wide variety of other restaurants in this area from McDonalds to Applebees, Bob Evans, Wendy's.

Hope this helps and enjoy your trip.
