  1. are you sure about the spelling of his name? and about the date? i found a dixon family in mckee in the 1910 and 1920 censuses but no merle or anyone born in 1912. do you know the names of parents or brothers/sisters? or anything?

  2. Could Merle have been his middle name?  Lots of people went by their middle name, especially in the South, it seems.

I couldn't find him.  Do you have any  other clues?

    Parents names?

  3. I looked and if he was the sheriff/JP, he ought to be remembered in Jackson Co., KY Government.  Try the Jackson Co. Historical or Genealogical Society.

  4. Mariel "Bud" Dixon, the son of James P. Dixon  (b. Jun 1883 in Kenutcky; d. 6 May 1936 in Kentucky) and Callie Lynch Dixon (b. 2 Oct 1888 in Jackson County, Kentucky,; d. 19 Mar 1975 in Connersville, Fayette, Indiana), was born 30 March 1909 in Jackson County, Kentucky, and he died in November 1981 in Connersville, Fayette, Indiana.  His parents were married 25 Jul 1904 in Jackson County, Kentucky.  He married Alice McKinney on 28 January 1929 also in Jackson County, Kentucky.

Alice McKinney (b.  30 March 1912 in Jackson County, Kentucky; d. 7 August 1998 in Connersville, Fayette, Indiana) was the daughter of Andrew M. McKinney (b. 1874) and Rachael Hobbs (1880-1921).
