Question:

Looking For Help With Costume!?

I bought this dress at the thrift store. It's a really dark, kind of twilight blue, with black designs all over the bottom. Then at the top, it's black, with kinda of a tie up corset type back, with spaghetti straps. It's floor length, and I want to wear it for an 8th grade Catholic school Halloween dance. I don't wanna just go in that as like a princess, or something stupid like that. I wanna be something more rocker, or on the wild side. Pushing the envelope, without getting detention. Thank You in advance!

  1. get a pair of black angel wings and go as a "Dark Angel"... You could wear a black wig or temporarily dye your hair black and wear some crazy dark makeup....Rock the whole thing out.

    just a suggestion.... :)

  2. Dark Angel! Or if you don't want to bother with the wings, go as the prom date from the opposite of heaven.... YAH! Tons of make-up. And if your looking for a way to say that with saying the other word (which im not gonna type for the sake of its Yahoo Answers) say your a dead prom queen.

  3. Go as a bad fairy.

Same idea as normal white fairy - but frilly black skirt, black fishnets, spiky hair short leather jacket and fishnet gloves - with holes.

    Chains optional.

    Must have a black wand.

    Think fairy / punk cross.

  4. I agree with the dark angel or fairy idea!  Or you can make it a vampire with some fangs or a she-devil with horns and a tail (may be a little risky if you’re going to a catholic dance though).  Like the person before said, add some dark makeup (and some glitter if you’re a dark angel or fairy) and a wig or temporarily dye your hair.  The best way to go is look online (google!) for which ever one you choose (make sure to add “dark” or “gothic” to get the best results) and pick out a model you like and base your makeup and hair on the way theirs is done.  If you can’t wear spaghetti straps (not sure how restrictive the school is), then get a see-thru shimmery fabric top to wear under the top of the dress or get your mom or someone else that can sew to make you a long-sleeve shimmery see-thru top to go under it.  This way it’s less revealing and shows less skin but still goes with that dark pushing the envelope look.  Good luck and most of all, have fun with it!

Google some more ideas.  Type in stuff like “dark fairy” or “dark” angel, goddess, etc.  and type in “gothic.”  Just add “Halloween costume” after it and you should get tons of ideas!
