Looking Into a Downhill Bike?

ok so i am looking into a downhill bike but i don't want to go generic like with specialized or any of those big name companies. I am willing to spend some good money but i don't want to go over the top like i was looking into a v10. If a generic bike is the only thing you can find then put it down but other wise im looking into brands that not many people know of. also if you have a a frame and bike kit i should look into that would help me also.

  1. A V-10 isn't the thing you should be shelling out for if you're new to downhill.  It's a LOT of bike and most courses (most people) won't ever need that.

I don't know why you're so sold on boutique frames, but have at it.  There are some GREAT "generic" bikes from "generic" companies, and they have the research, service, and experience to put into them.   If you want to stick with blingy names, then look at Comencal, Orange, Banshee....possibly even Azonic, Fire Eye, Transition, Ellsworth, and Rocky Mountain.

http://www.beyondbikes.com and http://www.ride-this.com have a good selection of some of these, but most are sold in shops or direct from the mfr and you won't find them online.
