Question:

Looking a certain nationality?

Sorry if this question sounds weird, I can't think of a way to word it correctly. In America, people tell me I "look" very Irish. I was wondering, if I went to Ireland (hopefully sometime soon) based on my appearance (not clothes) would the people be able to tell I am American, or my ancestors were Irish?

  1. i find this offensive.

    im irish.

and we do not have a cetain type of look.

    we will just sound different.

  2. You could post your picture on a single's website, and once you had become pen pals with a handsome Irish man, maybe he could let you know.

    Try: http://Irishsinglesnetwork.com

Actually, when I looked at the pictures of single men for this on line dating service, they didn't look all that different than a lot of men in Texas to me. Of course, I'm sure they sound quite different!

I'm also sure that when you visit Ireland that if you tell people there about your Irish roots, most people that you meet will be very friendly and helpful.  My mother's maternal grandfather's  parents immigrated to the Toronto, Canada, area from County Donegal; and he, in turn, came to Texas.  In about 1980, my family visited some distant cousins in Toronto, and they looked well (for lack of a better description) like family members.  They had similar coloring and facial features to my maternal grandmother.   Why would they look any different?

  3. They'd be able to pick you out by your accent.

  4. I am hungarian,french,german,russian,english, scottish,irish,and american indian.

People tell me that I look black, jewish, greek, italian, cuban, mexican, lebonese, and every thing south of the american border!

  5. They could probably spot a foreigner in a second, not because of how look, but how you act. I think if you look Irish, you'd probably... look just like the Irish in Ireland. I don't think anybody can tell just by looking what your ancestors are, but can get a good idea of what location. I mean, a lot of them mix, and even pure-blooded people can look mixed. Good luck.

  6. My friend and I were having lunch in the green and she taught me how to spot the Americans by what they're wearing, not that it's needed because you can hear an American from a mile away anyway.

How are we supposed to know your American by looking at your facial features, what has your nationality got to do with how you look?

  7. i'm sure they wouldn't be able to tell either way

most people who are irish look american cause they're both causasian same with a lot of european ethnicities

they would also be able to tell you american cause you wouldn't have an irish accent.

but i'm sure just by looking at you they would assume you were irish

    answer mine too please....

  8. Well, I wouldn't know since I don't have a picture of you. But, I think it'd be like the Carlos Mencia thing, he says he went to Iraq and looked very much like the people there, so some of the citizens went up to him and started speaking his language, yet he's Mexican.

  9. America has so many mutts , i don't think anyone could look at an American and know he or she is american.

An american would look like someone from africa or india or madagascar as much as they look like someone from Ireland.

As unfortunate as this is, it's true these days.
