  1. make sure the tank has a pump! Fish start going to the surface and loating on its side and back when they are not getting enough oxygen also clean the tank.fresh water always gives more oxygen.just catch the fish in the tank and put them in a jug of water then empty and refill the tank.fish tend to try not to die...they will carry on eating untill it is physically impossible, the sooner you get a pump and clean it the better.it may die but doing this will reduce the chances

  2. Try changing the water but make sure the temperature of the new water is the same as the old water before you put the fish in it.

  3. The prognosis doesn't look too good and the fish may die on you.

If you have an aquarium shop near you, you could check the symptoms out with them - there is an outside chance it can be cured and they may sell something you can add to the water in the tank/bowl.

Good  luck, it's a nightmare looking after someone else's pets.

  4. it is sick,my fish do that,my comet goldfish did the same thing. it will die within a few days-or hours...

  5. The goldfish has SBS (swim bladder syndrome), it's caused be overfeeding. Goldfish are opportunist eaters and will continue to eat when full. The portruding eye migh be popeye, a bacterial infection. Fast the goldfish for 2 days, this should give it enough time to digest all the undigested food that causes SBS, if the goldfish is still swimming funny after 2 days then give it the inside of a blanched pea, it will help the fish get regular. As for the eye, look it up on the net, if it looks like popeye, then their is medication for it at your local petstore.

  6. I've seen this in my fish. I think they may have a treatment for this in your local pet store. Get this ASAP.
