i just got a tat on my wrist today and it says on the leaflet i got afterwards that i have to put antiseptic cream on and then wrap it in clingfilm every 4 hours and leave it on when i go to bed (but just for 3 days about when i go to bed) and that i have to continue with the cling film and cream for 10 days

but i just read on here that if you do leave the clingfilm on it will rub off and that you shouldn't wear anything for when you go bed

soo what should i do?

thanks!

  1. they are dumb. don't cover it up. a tattoo is like any other cut you might get. the more air it gets the better it will feel and heal. wash it three times a day with luke warm water no soap( pat wash it don't rub) and put on a&d ointment.do this for about 2-3 weeks. in three weeks or so you will see it start to peel like a sunburn, don't pick at it. let it do it's thing. good luck. bet it looks awesome.

  2. By clingfilm do you mean saran wrap? Definitely none of that. It makes it so that the tattoo can't breathe and bacteria starts to grow. You're also not supposed to use any greasy creams (Neosporin, etc) for the same reason. Wash it with an antibacterial, gentle soap and use Lubriderm or a similar non-greasy, fragrance-free lotion. Don't go swimming or take baths for several weeks to a month. Don't pick at the scab. Wear loose clothing and try not to compress it (no belts if you have a tattoo on your beltline, etc).

  3. Olivia is completely right!! But you are going to have to shower or bathe but you should not submerge the tattoo. If your going to be showering you should cover it up and keep it from getting too wet. You don't want to wash the scab off. Other then that follow Olivia's directions by the letter!

  4. when i got mine on my wrist i just put vaseline on it and it's turned out fine. I also didn't leave the cling film on, so it could get fresh air. lol

  5. No way! Don't leave the cling film on! It needs to be kept moist but you do this with cream (I used sudacream on mine - DO NOT use Vaseline) but certainly don't cover it up. Make sure you keep it clean by washing it every 4 hours or so in clean water (don't rub it) and try and keep it out of sunlight. It should heal in 2 - 3 weeks.

Oh, and don't pick at it when it starts to scab - you'll make it go patchy!

  6. no, dont mess around with cling film. that should only be used until you get home. you should wash it in warm water, and lightly dab it...dont rub!!

then apply the cream and keep topping it up. i used bepanthen (its a nappy rash cream) and it works soooo well!!1 the tattoo hardly scabbed at all and healed within around 2 weeks.

try it, it worked for me and my mates.

just keep rinsing the tattoo in clean water, then lightly cover it in cream. it will soon heal.   but as for covering it in cling film... no!! thats just to protect it while you get home so it doesnt get any dirt in it etc. once the creams on your fine.
