Question:

Looking at Toyota Highlander Hybrid vs. RAV4 w/3rd row?

I am looking for a car w/3rd row seats to be used occasionally when picking up nephews or friends of my kids, so 3rd row doesn't have to be that roomy or comfy. I am also looking for something fuel efficient, and I wouldn't mind a few bells and whistles, like DVD player for kids. I currently drive a 2005 Mustang Convertible (not GT) and we are simply outgrowing it, and I'm fed up with the cheap plastic interior. Anyone have any input?????? Suggestions????

  1. Since the 3rd-row capability is not something you need all the time, you probably don't need something as big as a Highlander.  The Rav4 with the 3rd row should be good enough.

The Rav4 2WD gets 21 city / 27 highway compared to the Highlander Hybrid's 27 city / 25 highway, which is not that big a difference.  I think the difference in fuel economy is not worth the extra $12,000 you'd have to pay for the Highlander Hybrid.

  2. don't buy a Rav4 with the 4 cyl engine it's underpowered

the V6 pushed the price to $30K

The Toyota Highlander is best mpg suv on the road.

    these have 3rd row seats

    GMC Acadia

    saturn outlook

    Hyundai Santa fe

    Honda Pilot

    Ford Taurus X

the Outlook & the Acadia seat 8 comfortably

  3. I am getting a regular Highlander Sport in a couple of weeks. I also thought about the Rav 4. But, decided I wanted the extra room. Both are great cars. I would test drive them both, then decide.
