Looking at a Passport, How will I know if it is legit/Authentic?

Hi, I am driving myself nuts here! Ok. My friend has a Passport. He has shown me. It is a Morocco Passport. Now, How can I tell if it is real. Legit/authentic? Please, enlighten me.

what does it matter to you ,,,, you are American,,, he's Moroccan so be it

Usually there is a multi-colored seal on the passport also it's US law now to have a electronic passport. If it's missing some kind of seal it may be fake but if he got into the country then it should be legit.

Take it to the Morrocon embassy with him, if he declines then the assumtion will be that either the passport is fake or it is not his passport. This could appear to him that you don't trust him but for you to post this question it sounds like you have some doubt anyway, if it is all legitimate he should understand and agree to ease your obvious anxiety.
