  2. Usually to buy a used Bayliner boat is not a good thing to do.

You should look carefully and it will be better to explore it with experienced boat broker or marine mechanic.

  3. Later model Bayliners (1990's and newer)  are far better made boats than the earlier Bayliners that gave the line its' bad name. If the boat and trailer have been well kept and the motor well-maintained, there is no reason to reject the boat out-of-hand. If you are serious about it, have it inspected by a reputable boat / outboard mechanic.

  4. Bayliner's are good entry level boats for the money.  The quality of manufacturing Bayliner's are known is not as good as boats in same categories.  When purchasing a used boat always have a qualified technician thoroughly inspect the boat and motor.

Check service records and call the technician used to service this boat.  When you have the boat checked out use your own technician you hire.

Take the boat for a test ride.

  5. I'm going to speak -up everytime someone asks questions about Bayliner Boats...

You will find numerous bayliner bashing folks on this forum, I dont think its fair.

You will need to ask around, talk to people in person and find an honest marine mechanic with some references.

Bayliner has a bad-rep, Ive seen their boats age fine-they are cheaply made you will hear. If they are so cheap, why are they still in business?

I do agree with the first answer here, they early models were lousy...1990 and up have made improvements. I have no experience with the trophy models.

I would have the boat, motor and outdrive inspected by your mechanic and  then work on the price!

  6. listen to everyone make sure you have an honest mechanic look at the engine it doesn't matter what brand of boat you get but used motors suck cause you don't know how that person took care of it. have them take you on the water so you can see it run in person TRUST ME!!!!!!!!!

I bought a 1990 bay liner Capri I love the way it looks but I've had the worst luck with my outboards.

    Good luck.
