i have seen the item in a local store; however, i can save over $500 buying online. i can buy online from either broadway photo (bwarphoto.com) or camera addict (cameraaddict.com). they both get excellent reviews from shopcart.com I could buy last years samsung 50" plasma locally for about the same and take home myself sameday. last years rated at 60,000 hrs life vs this years rated at 100,000 hrs life. is it worth buying online and what are my concerns????

  1. How about the warranty? Many places are able to sell much cheaper than others because they sell in larger quantities and get better discount from the company itself, in your case, Samsung. If the warranty is valid, and if there is good history of happy buyers, perhaps?

  2. check out overstock.com

they're refurbished...but any problems and they'll refund you all your money no questions asked

  3. Check the return policy, I now most local retailers will allow you to bring back the product within 30 days, and if you have problems with the set in 30 days you better bring it back because if not you will be stuck dealing with the manufactor and could get stuck with junk (from personal experience).

Make sure it is new and not refurbished.

Make sure you now what, if any, return cost will be (ex. shipping etc) and if they cover shipping damages.

You could always print out the cost of the one online and see if the retailer will match it!!
