Question:

Looking at moving to Miami. Any suggestions?

I'm from the Midwest and I'm looking to finally ditch this snow for good. I'll be a Spanish and ESL teacher next year, so I don't want to move somewhere expensive. I'm looking at a couple of different states and cities, but I've always liked the Miami area. I'll be moving with my daughter who will be 4-years-old by then, so that means it has to be economical, SAFE, and a great school system. The only thing is that I don't want to live in an area dominated by elderly people. If anyone could give me any suggestions of good neighborhoods I'd really appreciate it.

  1. If your really on a budget then you might consider some other cities here in Fl like Naples, Stuart, West Palm, even some areas in Ft Lauderdale and Hollywood.I'm from Miami and live rent free with my boyfriend (I'm a struggling student!!). Miami is no longer for the retirees and rent for a 2 bedroom in a considerably nice area like Kendall and Hammocks SW of Miami International airport (great schools BTW) can cost you close to a thousand for rent. Not to include  the Home owners association fee and your utilities. (HOA fees approx 150+ monthly up to 350). Something for you to consider on a teachers budget. You may also want to read up on the controversy as I hear there have been some major budget cuts and newly employed teachers will not be receiving pensions any longer.
