  1. You may find that the smaller towns, specially in northern and central Europe will have little to do because it is already winter season.

To the south the season is longer, and in Southern Italy, Spain, Portugal and Greece you will find some small places still open. But ask around and book ahead to make sure.

The big towns, the famous cities among them, will still be all open, fully functional, if with a little shorter hours.

November is a perfect time to see all the highlights of Europe, like the tower in London, the Louvre museum and the Eiffel tower in Paris and so on.

There will be almost no time spend waiting for entry, offsetting the shorter days.

If you get a good travel guide, it will give opening times, round the year.

I like the Lonely Planet series, good for places to stay but also where to eat, drink and shop, Museums and sights, all with opening times and quality warnings where needed.

  2. November is colder and darker. And wetter in the UK the previous writer was right the smaller touristy towns and places like capri will be mostly closed. the cities however thrive all year round.London is very expensive berlin is great for shopping, amsterdam is a must do, rome is wonderful and of course vatican city. Most cities have a metro and it can be cheaper to get a week ticket - depending how long you are there for. Amsterdam central is small and really easy 2 get around . I have always found paris a bit harder to get around but its much smaller than london. London has a great tube system and everything u want to see if a short walk from a tube station. Just remember if you see a queue stand at the end and wait.
