Looking back on the Jim Jones tragedy?

Was his original idea good or bad? If I remember right, all of the people pooled their money and everything was taken care of. Of course the rest of his plan was sheer idiocy. However, if a group of senior citizens got together and pooled their resources with a decent leader, is that a bad idea? Your opinion?

Whenever there is a leader there is corrutpion, it would be fine if you have checks and balances.

Communism was the idea that equality was possible it COULD be manageable in small monastic groups. Its fundamentals however didn't imply the laws of society as different jobs require different skills. Simply put you can't pay a doctor the same amount as a waiter/ress.
