Looking for info on John J McQueeney

Born :1825 in Ireland

I have his 1900 census but I am looking for more info on him and I'd really like to know about his parents

  1. Most of the 1980 census is no longer around to check, but perhaps you could look at the 1880 census indexes.  That last name is uncommon enough that there should not be too many of them.  

    If you have a copy of his death certificate, it might also give you his father's name to give you more information to go on.

  2. Lots of McSweeneys from Upstate NY.  Also look under Sweeney and Swany  I have found my Sweeney ancestors under each spelling.  Are yours from Upstate NY?  if so, e-mail me.   gothisson@verizon.net

  3. Good luck to you, my friend.  There's nothing about him on GenCircles, GenForums, or any of the ancestry.com trees.

    He's missing from the 1910 census, but his sons still appear to have been in Cayuga County, which leads me to beleiev he died between 1900 and 1910.  If you're near that area, you could get a copy of his death certificate, or ask for a lookup if you're not.  I'm not all that familiar with NY State edath certificates, but there's a good chance it would list his parents' names.
