Question:

Looking for Volleyball Serve Recieve Drill that singles out individuals...?

Even playing/coaching multiple years and highly competitive levels, I can't remember a time I was in this same situation. I have 5 DS's, 2 stronger then the other 3, as well as solid passing from the starting 6 (middles included). Although I know my strongest passers I want a drill that shows the girls what I see, and sets up a target for the weaker passers to understand that they must reach if they wish to step on the court.

So basically a Serve/Recieve or passing drill that allows each player to get a numeric value given to them based on there passing.

The only system I have now along these lines are letting 3 individuals pass at a time and give them a number based on the quality of the pass. Setter can set all 3 hitters = 3 points, setter can only set 2 hitters = 2 points etc.

any alternatives or suggestions?

  1. i play volleyball for my highschool and we do this thing we call the butterfly drill.  some one serves a 5 (which helps serving control) there is one person there to receive it (serve receive) they pass it up to a target at the net and the target goes to serve.  its like a circuit going on both sides of the net in a circle.

  2. Hi My names ashley and ive been playing volleyball for 16 years and I also play Ds.

Over my years of experince i have learned many serve recive drills but the one i think would be the most effective in this situation is....

Having everyone thats not a ds get in a line on one side of the net and on the other side have a target ( could be a setter ) and have the 5 ds get in a line. You or someone else could be a tosser tossing to the ds's from the middle of the court. Each ds has 3 chances to get it to the target if they miss then there out. Each time a ds is sucessful the get a point and so on.

    Hope that Helps
