    Good trip!

  2. I don't know where you will be staying, but  without a doubt go hang-gliding over Rio. It is fantastic. This is the number one essential recommendation.

As for food- in Brazil go regularly to a churrascaria. This is a place where you have a buffet laid out and they bring large kebabs of different meats round to your table. When I last went you could get them for about 4 quid and they were lovely.

Nightlife - I went to a samba club in Lapa one night. Unfortunately I can't remember the name but what I would say is Lapa is very dodgy at night. It is the financial district. But anyway, definitely go to a Samba club. You won't regret.

  3. Where (cities) are you planning to go?

  4. Carnaval is just a big tourist trap. The natives of Brazil (half of my family is from there) say that it's highly likely you'll get robbed if you're on the street during the parade. You should go to Rio, and try not to stick out too much - see what the Brazilian women are wearing, and go with that. Bahia is beautiful, but very dangerous. If you've never been outside of your country before, you might be shocked by the amount of poverty on the streets.
