  1. 99.999% of video cameras connect to your laptop. The best one for you, depends what else you want to do with it, sorry its not a great answer, but go for the main brands you know them Sony, Canon, JVC (there are others) have a look about, hold them, feel the buttons, can you reach the easly, 15-20x optical is enough, once you start to get more then you need a tripod. Hdd/DVD/Mini dv your choice but i would always go for Mini DV I think its the best

Most things are down to personal preferience just have a look about and find one that is in you budget and go for it.

    Just my opinion

    good luck

  2. They all do these days

  3. All camcorders will let you do that, just some computers need a little help,

If you decide on a  mini dv (cassette) camcorder….

Your dv camcorder needs a firewire connection (ieee 1394) in order to download video, your laptop probably did not come with a firewire port, so you will have to buy one and install it (make sure your laptop has an empty bay), since most computers (except possibly brand new) don't come with a firewire port, your camcorder did not come with a firewire cord so you have to purchase a cord too. Your camcorder did come with a USB cord and that is used for downloading stills from your camcorder.

If you decide on a mini dvd camcorder….

You will have to finalize your dvd in the camera and then put the dvd in your computer 's DVD burner (top loading only) and then you will have to convert the files (i downloaded handbrake file converter free) and import them into your editing program. Use the HELP feature in your editing program to learn about editing. Once you are ready to burn, your project will be burned to a different DVD and you can file the original away.

  4. All camcorders can upload video - Canon, Sony, JVC and Panasonic make good ones.  How were you planning to distribute the video - that'll have a bearing on what type you choose?
