Looking for a Kayak?

Question

I'm looking to purchase a one person kayak to take on a slow paced river. I'd prefer it to be either pink or lime green in color. I've found a few, but they are very expensive. It can't be over $300 because my parents are buying it for my 21st birthday. Any tips on where I could search? Thanks!

Go to your local kayak/rental shop and see if they are selling used ones...Costco sells kayaks but I'm not sure what they are going for.  Canadian Tire sells them for about $300, they are just recreational type kayak with no bells and whistles.  

Steven is right maybe shop around and purchase a better one (parents could give you a gift certificate) and you could pay for the rest on lay away or however you can do it.  Check classified ads, under water sports/recreational boating...

In my opinion it is much better to get a top model used kayak over a cheap new one (which by the way is USED once you use it one time). Look on Craigslist or ebay or local paper - Maybe a used sporting goods shop.  Also consider choosing your kayka on something other than color. lol.

bjs sells some but ur not going to get a good one from a store that sells just kayaks or boats for under 300 and the ones at bjs suck to there arnt many good ones for under 300 any where actualy you should chip in and split the cost so u can get one that will last longer then 2 seasons

Where I am the local whitewater shop has an annual gear swap where you can find great deals, look for similar. Umm, the Prijon Hurricane is a great all around river boat.

As far as colors go, your being to vain, it doesn't matter what it looks like, just how it works.
