Looking for a Young children's picture book about a unicorn?

Question

I don't know the year of when this story was published because I remember having it as a kid. The general story (at least of what I remember) was about a young unicorn who didn't have his horn yet or it was growing in or something and that a dragon came to eat him. I remember that the pictures were dark yet colorful, and that at the end of the book before the baby unicorn saves the day he was hiding in a castle I believe before the dragon destroyed it. Any ideas? Please and thank you for you help

I first read this book when i was about seven and in the "fantasy" stage of life. LOL. it struck me as cute when i first read it.

Star the baby unicorn presents the perfect character for a child to focus on.

on the first page it tell about Star's birth, and then goes on to tell about why the unicorns and the dragons are enimies. after, star is requiered to learn about courage so she can be the final unicorn in a spell to make the dragons friendly(it requires eight unicorns but there are only seven)."
