In a month or two I will be purchasing a car. This is my first purchase and I have no clue about cars. I was wondering a few things.

1. What's good gas mileage?

2. What is a good mileage on a used car?

3. I was thinking about a Chevorlet Tracker, how are those cars?

4. I am looking for something that would also do well in snow, any suggestions?

5. Any suggestions for a good car?

Thanks!

  1. great question, in todays society and economic standings nothing is great when it comes to gas milage....although you want to pick the one car that wont eat a whole in your wallet....now a days the only good gas milage cars are the ones on the lots..20 to 50 thousand dollars....if youre looking for a used car, get something small...but since your looking for something good in the snow that puts you in a tight bind, my opinion for a good snow vehicle would have to be a mid to late chevy Z71 ... great for 4x4 action and getting thru the snow, but with the big engine, it will bite your money. small cars are great for gas milage, running errands, going to town, or any of the such things. youre needing something that will get you thru the snow so you may have to bite your tounge when it comes to the gas milage, i wouldnt want you to buy a small car for good gas milage and not be able to go anywhere because you would get stuck. use your best judgment and purchase wisely is my opinion. good luck on your first vehicle.

  2. try a used jeep, they are awesome in snow.

  3. 1. Good gas mileage is either 25+/29-30+. These cars need a fillup just once every 2-4 weeks depending on how you drive it and how much you drive it.

    2. Mileage isn't as integral as the car's history. If a car has under 50,000 miles, it's a good bet. However, beware of cars that are TOO cheap with low mileage; these cars are usually the lemons (spoiled cars) and they aren't reliable.

    3. American cars tend to break down a lot; it's not a rumor. The Chevrolet Tracker has 4wd, so that's a plus for you; however, gas mileage is 17/20. That's horrible.

    4. If you would like a car that would be good in snow, look for a 4wd car such as a Subaru WRX or a Mitsubishi Lancer.

    5. The Acura RSX gets 24/29 MPG, is relatively safe, and seats five people. It also has a low center of gravity so therefore, it is easy to feel the road.

  4. Chevy Tracker, not a good idea, as they are harsh and cramped and need attention more than normal..in my opinion.

Try looking at a 1999 something like Honda CRv all wheel drive, Toyota RAV4 all wheel drive and maybe even a all wheel drive wagon type like the Subaru forester...

    best wishes
