Looking for a cheap hotel in Salzburg, Austria.?

I need a cheap hotel in Salzburg, very close to the old town. Any suggestions will help. I have looked at all the popular hotel websites and the prices are sky high for December.

you have to register....its free....there you will find nice people who have a place to sleep for travelers.

You can also try hostels. I stayed in one while I was there and it was okay and close to the city.

search for "gasthof salzburg" on yahoo/google rather than hotels.. those are the cheap options you get with better service and hospitality than hotels....
