My mom is wanting a curtain rod 84-86 inches long and she wants one that has a string you pull and it pulls the curtains from the middle and brings them to each side of the window. She does not want the kind that pulls the blinds all over to one side of the window. Does anybody know what the name is of that type rod or where I could shop for one online?? Thanks

  1. It is called a two-way traverse rod.  They can be configured for left or right hand draw.   Many people think that the rod needs to end about 3 to 6" beyond the window.  But if you put in a longer rod, your window doesn't have to be partly buried by the gathered drape.

So when they're fully opened, you can see much more of the window.

Also if the drapes are on the heavy side, use 5 mounting points instead of the usual 3.

Sears, Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot all carry them.
