Looking for a dirtbike?

I go into the outdoors a lot. The real outdoors with bear, cougar and tons of abandoned roads. These are what we Cannot pass. Roads that would require a chainsaw , a short wheel base and a vehicle to beat the **** out of. Impassible just by any old 4x4. These are short cut roads, and ways to bypass gates duggouts and barricades.

So im lookin for a dirt bike , one that can climb through occasional heavy mud, go up hills, and one that can take me to lakes and rivers.

Ok so heres my question, what kind of dirtbike would best suite my needs? What price range?

Since this is my second time posting this ..... ill add some details.________________________________...

  1. if your looking for a 250cc bike go with yamaha, but is it 2 stroke or do you want 4 stroke(i think a 4 stroke would be better for your application) i belive that a yamaha ttr 230 is perfect for you because got electric start and kickstart back up but yamaha makes a heck of a bike the 08 msrp is $3,549

  2. four whellers are better for that dirt bikes are not so good for going over sticks and through deep mud ull just slip 4 wheeler r 100 percent funner to

  3. Honda Dirt Bikes are the most reliable in the business.  You could opt for a 250 or even a 450cc model.  The buying is the easy part.  How adept you will be handling it in the wild; is another story altogether.  I suggest you join a dirt bike training school first and learn all there is to know about the rough and tumble of handling these tall bikes.  Once you have mastered the handling in wet mud and dry dirt tracks, you will be in a better position to answer all of your questions.

  4. I would go with an ATV like previously mentioned.  A dirt bike wont be able to climb and haul, and will get quite expensive to find a 250 cc..... I bought an awesome ATV at a great price at http://www.xtrememinimotors.com They also sold dirt bikes so you could prolly email the guy and he could tell you all the specifics on the size and hauling power of each bike. he was absolutely awesome and a joy to work with!

  5. Even though I'm a dirt bike guy, I agree that a 4 wheeler would work better for this. If you want a bike though stay away from 2 strokes for this type of application unless you go with a KTM or can find a used KDX200/220. I would highly recommend a Honda CRF250X 4 stroke though.
