  1. I personally think you have been mislead.  There is VERY LITTLE mercury in amalgam fillings.  They rarely leak, and plastic/white fillings DO leak and shrink and have to be replaced every 5 years or earlier.  If you are one of those 'health nut' individuals, you may be trying to do what is best for yourself, but this is not the way to do it.  When they drill OUT the metal in your fillings the mercury basically becomes liquefied once again, and you risk more of it leaching out.  This is just plain silly.  Deal with it.  If you need more fillings, you can request them to be composite, but they won't be as strong.  Trust me.  I see this all the time in my profession.  Plus, I bet you are inadvertently putting bad things in your body all the time.  By denying yourself of things that these so-called health magazines tell you, you could cause yourself more damage.

From the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology's searchable database.

Here's an article on their website regarding the safe removal of mercury fillings. http://iaomt.org/articles/files/files288...

My husband had ozone injected into his root canal, by an IAOMT dentist.  It seemed to reduce his diarrhea problems.  For full disclosure, he said the ozone injection was painful.
