I recently picked my dog up from the vet. He is no longer ill but has lost alot of weight. Any ideas on a dog food that will allow him to put on healthy weight? Although he is not a pup, I was thinking puppy chow for a little while to add the nutrients....Please help!

  1. Puppy chow won't hurt anything, but it may give him so digestion problems. Here's what we did for my dog, who we got from the humane society very underweight.

Wet food is always a good thing. Iams, Pedigree, and Purina are the best as far as required nutrition.

Take an egg, put it in a bowl, and microwave it until it isn't runny. Mix it up and put it with his food.  Do this once or twice a day and he'll be up to weight in no time. Eggs are a really good food for dogs. You'll notice his coat will get sleek and shiny after a little while.

Good luck! I know he's happy to have a caring home!

  3. We give our dog a brand called Good Life. its in a purple(beef flavor) or yellow bag(chicken). you can get it at pretty much anywhere for a good price. it doesnt have preservatives, fillers and its made out of real food. my dog is a picky eater and he loves it. they also make dog treats and bones. after i switched my dog to this food he had less stomach problems and his breath doesnt smell as bad. he also has less mood swings and a shinier. The weight loss may also be due to nerves  from being at the vet. i'm sure once he calms down he will start to put on more weight.

  4. Try the brand Nutro from Petsmart. The Nutro High Energy is like steroids because it is so high in protein. It will bulk your dog up quick. Nutro is one of the better brands out there. Very healthy.
