Question:

Looking for a durable, fuel efficient car?

We are planning on getting a vehicle for a road trip out to BC (from Ontario). The way gas prices are these days, we can't afford what we'd really want. It would be great to have some sort of larger vehicle, hippy-van style, or sort of like a Ford Econoline (except not as terrible on gas). Volkswagen makes some pretty good looking cars.

Any ideas? :) Thanks

  1. Toyotas last a very long time, Camry, Corolla, Highlander, RAV4.

But in the oooollllld days you had to sign a blood oath when you bought a new Volvo Station wagon. You had to swear to drive till it died in Friday afternoon rush hour traffic........

So it could go to Valhalla.......

  2. 2008 chevey malibu 32 mpg

  3. I have an 08 Nissan Sentra S. So far, so good. Overall 29 mpg in mixed driving. The Rockford stereo & XM radio are great, rides nice, & smooth trans.

  4. Get an older (early 90's) Volvo station wagon.. they're big like a bus they handle like a car the gas is decent and you shouldn't have to pay more than 1-2 thousand (US) dollars. I just gave up my 240GL because I hit 300,000 miles... (not sure what that is in KM for you) but.. it's alot.

    enjoy your trip

  5. It's not a larger vehicle but its better than the average car I'd think....a 92-95 Honda Civic VX Hatchback. They are supposed to get 48-55 mpg which is better than a current Prius.
